Land Acknowledgement
I live, play and work on the traditional territories of Treaty 7 which include the Siksika (SICK-sih-kah) Nation, the Piikani (PEE-kah-nee) Nation, the Kainai (KAY-nye) Nation, the Îethka (ee-ETH-kah) Stoney Nakoda Nation (consisting of the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Goodstoney Nations), the people of the Tsuut’ina (SOO-tee-nah) Nation, and the Métis.
ika'kimaak is a Blackfoot saying for "try hard" and inner strength. If we can see education as a gift, then it is the receivers responsible to pass it on. Use humility. Do the next right thing. Live easy, but think first.
Hi, I’m Gio Dolcecore (DOLC-chay-core-ee)
I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) and Registered Couple Family Therapist (CACFT). I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Child Studies and Social Work at Mount Royal University, and a Adjunct Professor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Social Work.
My clinical practice focuses on trauma, addictions, intimacy, and 2SLGBTQIA+ mental health. With expertise in narrative and trauma-informed approaches I provide individual, couple, and family therapy, as well as clinical supervision and professional development.
My work is grounded in queer-affirming, anti-oppressive practices that promote healing, reflection, and growth. I am passionate about supporting clients and practitioners in navigating complex challenges, fostering meaningful change, and building sustainable, decolonized and ethical practices.
