TRANSPARENT-C

TransParent-C is a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning project conducted in partnership with Airdrie Pride Society (APS), involving 5 BSW students. The project uses focus groups modeled on peer-support to explore the needs of rural caregivers of transgender, gender-diverse, and nonbinary children.

INTERSECTIONAL RECIPROCITY

Intersectional Reciprocity is a collective autoethnography conducted in collaboration with a BSW practicum student and Elder Roy Bear Chief. The project explores the student’s journey in engaging with traditional pathways toward becoming a Knowledge Keeper while deepening their allyship with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Simultaneously, it examines the supervisor’s reflective process of allyship with Indigenous communities through learning Blackfoot (Siksika) cultural teachings and practices.

TRANS ATHLETICS

TranAthletics Project is in direct response to Alberta government’s Bill 29 (Fairness and Safety in Sports Act). This project helps host Teach In’s, allowing those with lived experience to share their experience as athletes in the world of competitive sports. This project is currently conducting 1 on 1 interviews with anyone nationally who is/has engaged in varsity and/or recreation within University settings to support future ethical gender policy and regulations.

GENDER EUPHORIA

Gender Euphoria is a participatory, arts-based research project exploring how Calgary-based trans and gender-creative (TGC) youth and their caregivers define and experience “gender euphoria” within various social contexts, including peer groups, families, educational settings, healthcare (physical and mental), and sports and recreation.
